COVID-19 Pandemic

On March 11, 2020 the Novel Coronavirus Disease, COVID-19, was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. On March 13, 2020 a national emergency was declared in the United States concerning the COVID-19 Outbreak. Throughout the past few months our country has sustained tragic impacts to our families, friends, and community members, particularly here in the Pacific Northwest where we were one of the first areas to have been hit by this terrible illness.

PNS-AIHA's mission statement is to "increase the knowledge of industrial hygiene through interchange and dissemination of information; to promote the study and control of environmental factors affecting the health and well being of workers; to correlate such activities as are conducted by individuals and agencies throughout industrial, educational and governmental groups; and to bring together persons interested in industrial hygiene". Now, more than ever, the value of occupational health and industrial hygiene is critical to our society.

Many of our members have been heavily involved in the response and we extend to them endless gratitude and admiration for their dedication and commitment to this mission . We also extend condolences to anyone who has or has known someone who was affected by this illness or the difficulties faced by quarantine. We wish for a speedy recovery of both our community members and the community itself and promise to continue providing evidence-based service to the Pacific Northwest.
